The Furious

This is a bad movie, btw. Do not fall for the reviews — I repeat, do not fall for them. If you’ve watched The Raid: Redemption, you’ll be even more disappointed by how scuffed this movie is. Not just the story, which is bad, but the acting from the entire cast is extremely poor (don’t even get me started). Even the main protagonist can barely act. It’s obvious he was only selected for his martial arts skills and nothing else. People will tell you this movie is mainly about the action and everything else is secondary, but we’ve already seen pure action done right in The Raid, The Raid 2, and the John Wick franchise. We know what good action movies look like — and this one isn’t even 1% of them. Also, can anyone explain how every goon from level 1 to level 100 can fight so well? Were they all trained before joining the organization? It becomes ridiculous watching everyone suddenly know...

The Furious

"The Furious" is a basic, formulaic martial arts action flick that will appeal to martial arts film purists but less so to everyone else. Beyond the relentless, frenetic and oftentimes bloody action, the shelf is pretty much bare. The story is wholly formulaic and familiar, with a cast of predictable characters, from the dad who is probably ex-special forces or some kind of assassin, the sidekick with his own agenda, the kidnapped but feisty daughter and the super bad, bad guy. It's all been done before. I'd say if you are a fan of martial arts films and you want a low-IQ watch that's not demanding anything from you, this represents a worthwhile distraction. The martial arts fight scenes are fantastically choreographed and timed. Anyone with a decent background in the martial arts will appreciate this film when viewed from this perspective. In summary, amazing martial arts action but...

The Furious

A few of my brain cells ended themselves The current 7+ rating is completely dishonest. The movie is beyond stupid. The whole movie has barely six and a half lines of dialogue, with the rest being brainless dancing (fighting). At one point, you start questioning why this is happening, why they are fighting, and what the objective is. The villains come and kill all the cops at the police station. Kidnapped children are literally seen inside a building, with police protecting the villains. Most annoying is the little girl who continues to demonstrate a lack of discipline or any restraint. She was so annoying that at one point I found myself rooting for the villains. Please watch waves coming and going, sun rising, or paint drying. Anything is more productive and entertaining than this movie.

City Lights

Virginia Cherrill charmingly plays a young, blind, flower seller whom the tramp (Charlie Chaplin) falls for, hook line and sinker. Later that night, he is crossing a bridge when he encounters a suicidal, dipso, millionaire (Harry Myers) whom he convinces to hang about for a while longer, and who by way of appreciation invites him to a party at his mansion, then to a series of evening entertainments. Thing is, when he wakes up with the mother of all hangovers next morning, though, he has never a clue who the tramp is and so gets his butler to send him packing. Meantime, still determined to help his new love, our kindly vagrant reads in a newspaper that there might be might be a cure for her blindness - but it will be expensive. His boozy buddy offers him $1,000 to help but when, as usual in the morning, he sobers up and denies all knowledge of the "gift". The police are called and things...

Josee, the Tiger and the Fish

Josee, The Tiger and The Fish tells a touching story of two dreamers facing personal and external challenges, brought to life with smooth animation and expressive voice acting. The film thoughtfully explores deep internal conflicts, such as Josee’s struggle for freedom and Tsuneo’s balancing of ambition and love, while also portraying strong supporting characters and tension from outside forces. Its vivid visuals and well-chosen music enhance the emotional impact, creating a rich, harmonious experience. The story’s satisfying resolution highlights meaningful character growth, and the after-credit scene reveals an important final touch. Overall, it’s a romantic and engaging film perfect for fans of heartfelt storytelling. Read the full review here: (Indonesian version : alunauwie.com) and (English version : uwiepuspita.com)

The Lion King

i just wish to inform before i start this review that i still respect anyone who likes this film. Now let's get to the point, which is this: I don't like the lion king. I'm sorry, but i don't. To me it's just a bad version of Hamlet, and considering it's my literal favourite play ever, i have a reason to dislike a kid's remake. An unjust one, perhaps, but it's MY opinion. 'S\*\*\*\*y hamlet' is my summary of this film. I have no other words.

The Lion King

Certainly not one of Disney's better animations from a technical perspective - the artwork lacks the vibrancy and detail of many of their earlier stories; but the combined efforts of Sir Tim Rice, Elton John and Hans Zimmer make this an enjoyable fantasy adventure. It is told in two parts - the first sees a son "Simba" born to the king "Mufasa"; a curious little fella who, alongside his friend "Nala" is inquisitive and mischievous - a real pain in the neck to the king's major-domo "Zazu". One fan the new cub really doesn't have, however, is the king's rather unimpressed brother "Scar" who hatches a plan to depose his brother and take over the kingdom. He manages to achieve exactly this and to get the youngster to blame himself and head off, alone, into exile. The second part is much more fun; he falls in with a warthog and is soon eating colourful grubs and living a peaceful, jolly life...

The Lion King

If you enjoy reading my reviews, please follow my blog :) First of all, this is (obviously) a SPOILER review. I mean, who hasn’t seen this movie yet? If by some extraordinary circumstances you’re one of those unlucky souls, stop. Spend the next hour and a half watching this animated masterpiece and come back here. I will still avoid mentioning key details because I’m just used to it, and The Lion King has so many things to compliment that I don’t really need to get in-depth on spoilers. So, in case you haven’t notice it through my Twitter or occasional mentions in other reviews, The Lion King is one of my favorite films of all-time (animated or not)! I rewatched it for the 312358th time this last weekend, and I cried more than when I was just a child. That’s how much this movie means to me. The sense of nostalgia plus the overwhelming emotions throughout the runtime are tear-inducing...

Ice Cream Man

This is a very competent and well executed slasher movie with a fun twist and an interesting plot that makes you engaged enough to follow it. The protagonists are relatable and understandable in their choices and actions, and the difficulties they face are strange and twisting and dangerous. The tension builds quite naturally, and the actors do a fine job of portraying the situations they are in. The twist is welcome and works just fine and the setup for a potential sequel is nice as well. I had a lot of fun watching this movie and I recommend it to all slasher fans.

Ice Cream Man

I don't understand what movie others were watching on social media. This film ROCKED!!!! From what I was hearing, there were 4 things that people have been complaining about which I DO NOT AGREE WITH and honestly I think most of them is just people being WAY to sensitive and looking for things to be offended about: 1) The dinner table comment. Basically the sister says she is going to a water park and brother asks if he can go. The sister say why so you can look at girls in bikinis and the dad chimes in with something like "I wanna go too". People are complaining that the comment was pedish which I think is taking it WAY out of context. Anyone with a quick whit would have said that comeback. It was just a dad teasing his daughter after the brother already did. I think people reading into it have some self reflection to do. 2) Tommy (the black kid) wearing a t-shirt that says...

Ice Cream Man

Oh, now come on - who hasn't enjoyed delicious Mint Romney ice cream? Unfortunately, there is a side effect if you feed it to our children - it turns them into marauding murderers intent on killing every adult they see whether they be parent, guardian, granny or teacher. Luckily, though, "Jared" (Charlie Zelzter) is lactose intolerant and his sister "Lizzie" (Sarah Abbott) won't let him have any. Phew! That leaves him, "Mia" (Kiori Mirza Waldman) and "Tommy" (Shiloh O'Reilly) as the only kids in the town not determined on a rampage of gory slaughter. What's causing all of this? Well they (and we) quickly deduce that it must have something to do with the creepy ice cream man (Ari Millen) whose van appears at all hours of the day and night to top up their dose of coned-delights and so fuel their antics - even the hunky fireman isn't safe! After about ten minutes, this descended into a most...

Parasomnia

When making a movie about dreams, it is incredibly easy to become disjointed in the narrative because you take narrative shortcuts when you storytell through dreams, which the audience can sometimes fail to connect with. This movie suffers from that to a lesser extent and manages to tie it back together after the twist, which happens later on in the movie. From then on, the dream sequences are more cohesive, and you get more stakes into the characters. It's not a perfect movie by any stretch, but it does engage and the characters have enough depth for you to be involved with them in order to build tension.

Friday the 13th

*The beginning of the most successful slasher franchise* Released in May, 1980, "Friday the 13th" was produced in the wake of the success of 1978's "Halloween" and also shares elements of "Carrie" (1976) and "A Bay of Blood" (1971). The story revolves around a cursed summer vacation spot, Camp Crystal Lake, New Jersey, and the slayings of young camp counselors. Critics slammed the film and I'm not sure why since it's in the same league as the acclaimed "Carrie" and "Halloween." Regardless, it was hugely popular at the box office, making far more than any of the sequels until "Freddy vs. Jason" in 2003. As of this writing there are 12 movies in the franchise and another in the works, making it the most successful slasher series and one of the most successful franchises of any genre. I'm not a gorehound at all and only occasionally watch slasher flicks, but I'm a huge fan of the "Friday...

Friday the 13th

Certainly not the first slasher movie, but arguably the most influential. This original film stands alongside Part V: A New Beginning as the only two movies in a 12 film long franchise where they play the killer as a mystery, I think that premise would wear thin had they tried it every go around, but here it is executed, if not masterfully, at least to the film's benefit. Friday the 13th is a movie I'll watch at least once a year, ever since I first saw it in the early 2000s. Maybe it's not the best movie ever, or even the best slasher movie ever, Hell, maybe it's not even the best Friday the 13th movie ever, but the fact that I'm not sick of it yet has to count for something. Final rating:★★★½ - I really liked it. Would strongly recommend you give it your time.

Friday the 13th

Some films benefit with time, maturing and holding a nostalgic charm. Others rot like a bad apple, like Friday the 13th. Perhaps I had to be alive in 1980 to actually appreciate this one, but it is really not as groundbreaking as some people like to think it is, rather another spin on films like Psycho and Halloween, minus the budget. And the acting.

Friday the 13th

Clearly, the team behind “Friday the 13th” expected at least to make a reasonable profit out of it, but I seriously doubt that anyone involved in the making of this film even considered the possibility of it becoming the cult classic that it is today. Victor Miller, who wrote the story, openly admitted that he was riding off the success of Halloween (1978). The late actress Betsy Palmer even claimed that, after reading the script, she thought the story was trash (well… she actually used another word), but she took the job because she needed a new car. Little did she know when she took the role that her character would immortalize her as one of the biggest horror icons of all times. Yes, it is evident that Victor Miller and Don Mancini capitalized on the success of Halloween (1978), but the truth is that “Friday the 13th” manages to stand out on its own, and in the end, other than being...

Zootopia 2

It's very rare that the 2nd movie is better than the 1st and in this case it's true. Not as good as the 1st but actually it stood on it's own. Had a good story apart from the 1st movie and held it's own. Not as funny or clever plot bit more predictable but enjoyable.

Zootopia 2

Things are not looking so hot for this animal equivalent of “Dempsey and Makepeace” after one of their clandestine operation goes especially pear-shaped and the boss threatens to split up “Hopps” and “Wilde”. The former is probably the more professional of the two and after discovering something distinctly scaly at a grand civic reception that goes wrong, allies with her foxy partner to get to the bottom of a secret that might involve a grandma, a patent and a seemingly harmless metal-covered journal. Meantime, the local bigwig lynxes seem determined to thwart these detective activities, so we have to assume that their status as town grandees isn’t what it seems - but with everyone sceptical about our dynamic duo, what chance they can get to the truth? Aside from just being quite an enjoyably paced adventure, this also has a bit more substance as a story that shines some light on...

Zootopia 2

Very short: Zootopia 2 is lovely and has as many little details about the world and everyone within it as the first one. If you enjoyed the first one, you'll enjoy this one. Longer: Zootopia 2 basically does what the first one already did: Using the story of a police case to teach people, inside and outside of the movie, that prejudice and stereotypes we learned to believe are often wrong and even more often dangerous. In addition, it also features other themes like stolen land, and that ultimately what makes "you" is your decisions in the situations you're dealt. (Important) moral of the story aside: Zootopia 2 is as beautiful, maybe even more, as the first one. Such beautiful colors, so many moving parts and animals, such great detail on soft surfaces and, of course, fur. Thanks to that, Judy (and the others) look even more beautiful and detailed with so many individual hairs and...

Zootopia 2

FULL SPOILER-FREE REVIEW @ https://movieswetextedabout.com/zootopia-2-movie-review-disney-proves-it-can-still-make-sequels-with-soul-and-purpose/ Rating: A- "Zootopia 2 asserts itself as a worthy and even necessary sequel, overcoming the natural loss of the novelty factor with a narrative that dares to dig deeper into the imperfect foundations of its utopia. Although the mystery doesn't reach the suspenseful peaks of its predecessor, the film makes up for it with dazzling visual evolution, a voice cast in a state of grace, and a mature exploration of the partnership between Judy and Nick. It's a movie that entertains as much as it provokes thought, refusing to offer easy answers to complex problems like historical erasure and social exclusion. More than just a simple animated adventure, this is a story about the responsibility to remember and correct, inspiring us to believe that...
